Personal Recipes from the Women’s Guild, Tabernacle
Presbyterian Church, Racine, Wisconsin, about 1954, WIS-2.
The Tabernacle Presbyterian Church was originally
established by Welsh settlers in Racine, Wisconsin in 1843 as the Welsh
Calvinistic Methodist Church. The church
building (in 1954) stands on the original lot that was purchased by the
congregation in 1843. The first building
was erected at a cost of $400. In 1856,
it was decided to construct a new building on the site. When completed the cost was $4,100. At the time this cook book was published, the
church being occupied was constructed in 1906 and dedicated free from
debt. The name of the church was changed
to Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in 1920.
In 1955, they were to become a member of the Milwaukee Presbytery upon
action of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. when the
Welsh Presbytery would be dissolved.
